How Hand Stripping Differs from Clipping

Unlike clipping, which cuts the coat, hand stripping removes dead coat by hand, helping maintain the correct texture, colour and weather-resistant qualities of the coat. When carried out regularly, it keeps the coat healthier, easier to manage and true to breed standard.

Clipping a wire coat can soften its texture and fade its colour over time, which is why hand stripping is the recommended approach for many wire-coated breeds.
